A SMALL NOTEBOOK

There is more
to see slowly.

Walking, noticing, and making a little room for the ordinary.

A route without a destination

A familiar street becomes different when the pace changes. Look above the shop windows: a painted sign, a balcony garden, the shape of a roof against the afternoon sky. A short walk does not need to become a project. Sometimes the only useful plan is to take the next quiet turn.

Keeping a small notebook

Loose observations are easier to keep than complete accounts. A line about the light in a room, a color combination, the name of a tree to look up later. Leave space between entries. The blank parts make it easier to return without feeling that something has been left unfinished.

The useful part of a rainy afternoon

Rain brings details into focus: reflections under a doorway, the darker edge of a stone wall, a line of water following the pavement. A covered seat and a few unhurried minutes can change the way a place is remembered.
